If you are in the market for a new air conditioning system or struggle with keeping cool in different areas of your home, a ductless air conditioner might be perfect for you!  Ductless AC units are affordable and offer energy savings to homeowners.

What is a Ductless AC Unit?

Ductless air conditioning consists of an indoor, wall-mounted unit, or units, used with an outdoor compressor.  A conduit connects the indoor and outdoor units, and each indoor unit houses a refrigerant line, coils, and an air filter.  The outdoor unit contains the system’s compressor, condenser, and condenser fan, and usually has the capacity for up to four indoor units.  The number of rooms that need cooling determines the number of indoor units that a home needs.

Who Should Use a Ductless Air Conditioner?

There are several different situations where a ductless system is ideal:

  • Homes without ductwork already installed
  • Homes with expensive fuel costs or low efficiency heating systems
  • Additional rooms or buildings outside
  • Rooms that aren’t always used
  • Areas where ductwork is unprotected
  • Newer built homes

Benefits of a Ductless Air Conditioner

Ductless AC units offer more installation flexibility than forced air systems.  A ductless unit transports air directly into the room without the aid of ductwork.  Forced air ductwork may not be able to reach every area of your home.  A ductless AC unit is able to cool these areas quickly without any downtime of installing ductwork in walls or ceilings.  Other benefits include:

Forced air units can be expensive but most ductless air conditioners are budget-friendly.  AC unit costs can vary widely not just for the product but also for the installation of the unit. In comparison, the AC unit costs of installing a ductless air conditioner are minimal.  These indoor units operate with small pipes that can be installed through a three-inch hole in the wall.

If you are struggling with the typical AC unit costs of air conditioning and want something more energy efficient for your home, ductless air conditioning is a great option!  Call Edwards Heating & Air and talk to one of our NATE-certified technicians about outfitting your home with a ductless AC unit.
